Travellers holding a Schengen Visa normally don’t have to apply for a transit visa.
But there are exceptions:
- Category A: Airport Transit Visa - for travellers who have to stay at the airport for a longer period of time.
- Category B: Transit Visa - for travellers who change in a Schengen area airport to a flight to a non-Schengen country; or by car

There are exceptions in the following cases:
- Residence permit in a Schengen state
- Residence permit of Canada, USA, San Marino, Andorra, Japan
- Close family in the EU
- Diplomatic passport
