Usage of the Present Tense
The German Present Tense / Präsens describes the present and the future.
The Present Tense / Präsens can express the following situations:
- I happens now / presen / Gegenwart.
Er kauft gerade ein Getränk. - He is buying a drink.
- It always happens present / Gegenwart.
Der Zug kommt um 19:02 Uhr. - The train arrives at 19:02.
- It has started in the past and is still happening.
Er wohnt schon lange hier. - He has been living here for a long time.
- It happens in the future.
Nächste Woche hat er Geburtstag. - His birthdays is next week.
The German Present Tense is formed in different ways.
There are:
- Regelmäßige Verben / Regular Verbs
- Unregelmäßige Verben / Irregular Verbs
- Verben auf -d/t / Verbs in -d/t
- Verben auf -eln / Verbs in -eln
- Trennbare Verben / Separable Verbs
- Modalverben / Modal Verbs
