Case / Casus
Cases help to coordinate Latin sentences.
Every case / Casus “answers” to a certain question:
Casus / Case |
Question |
Nominative |
who? or what? |
Genitive |
whose? |
Dative |
whom? |
Accusative |
who do you? or what? |
Vocative |
who? |
Ablative |
by who or what? |
Additionally to the „normal“ uses of the cases, there are constructions like the AcI (Accusativus cum Infinitivus) and the Ablativus Absolutus.
