Condizionale Passato / Past Conditional

The Condizionale Passato / Past Conditional represents the past of the Condizionale Presente / Present Coditional. It describes states or actions that are irreal and already finished.

Averebbe lavorato.

Negative Declarative Sentence

Non avrebbe lavorato.

He would not have worked.

Form:

The Condizionale Passato / Past Coditional is made up by a form of “avere” (static) or “essere” (movement) and the Participio Passato.

Reflexive Verbs in the Condizionale Passato / Conditional Past

Reflexive verbs always form the Condizionale Passato with the auxiliary verb “essere” - to be.

Example:
Forse domani avrei già dimenticato i problemi di oggi. - Maybe tomorrow I will already have forgotten today’s problems.

When is the Participio Passato adjusted?

- With reflexive verbs > si sarebbe alzata
