Future in the Past / Futur Antérieur / Futur II - il aura mangé

 

The Futur Antérieur is the “Past of the Future”, that means it describes a state or an action that will already have been finished in the future.

Il aura travaillé.

He will have worked.

Negative Affirmative Sentence

Il n’aura pas travaillé.

He will not / won’t have worked.

Question

Est-ce qu’il aura travaillé?

Will he have worked?

Form:

The Futur Antérieur is made up of a form of “avoir” - to have (non-movement) or “être” - to be (movement) und dem Participe Passé.

Forms of the Auxiliary Verbs (Futur Simple):

Reflexive Verben im Futur Antérieur

Reflexive Verbs always use the Auxiary Verb “être” to form the Futur Antérieur.

Example:
Demain j’aurai déjà oublié les problèmes d’aujourd’hui.

When is the Past Participle adjusted?

There is NO Adjustment of the Participe Passé / Past Participle with:
- the Auxiliary Verb “avoir” > elle aura écouté

There is AN adjustment of the Participe Passé / Past Participle, with:
- the Auxiliary Verb “être” > elle seratombée
- Reflexive Verbs > elle se sera levée
- Complements (direct object) > elle l’aura vue
- Complements (direct object / relative sentence) > la voiture qu’elle aura vue
