Preposition zu - to:

local:
Ich fahre zu dir / zu meinem Freund. - I go to my friend (‘s place).
Er ist zu Hause. - He is at home.

temporal:
Zu Weihnachten soll es schneien. - It will snow at Christmas.
Zur Zeit ist er krank. - He is ill at the moment.

Further prepositional ways of use:

Ich gehe zu Fuß. - I am walking.

Infinitive:
Es ist leicht, Deutsch zu lernen. - It’s easy to learn German.
Das brauchst du nicht zu tun. - You don’t need to do that.

Adverb:
Dieses Haus ist schön, aber zu teuer. - This house is nice, but it’s too expensive.

Prefix:
Das Geschäft ist heute zu, morgen auf. - The shop is closed today, tomorrow it’s open.
Mach das Fenster zu. - Open the window.

um ... zu / damit - for, in order to:
Ich arbeite, um Geld zu verdienen. - I work in order to earn money.

zu / dass - to, that:
Ich bin dazu bereit, dir zu helfen. - I am ready to help you.

haben zu - to have to:
Das hast du zu tun. - You have to do that.

brauchen zu - to need to:

zu mit Verben, ... - „zu“ goes with verbs:
