Adverbs describe verbs, they can also describe adjectives or other adverbs.
The form of the adverb is made by adding -ment to the female form of the adjective.

If an adverb is too long it can also be formed with “de façon / d’une façon”.
Example:
Il a répondu sympathiquement.
Il a répondu d’une façon sympathique.
